SCSN Denies Social Media Claims, Reiterates Position on INEC Chairman

The Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria (SCSN) has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that it directed Muslims to embark on prayers for the removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a press statement issued on April 13, 2026, and signed by its Secretary General, Nafiu Baba Ahmad, the Council described the reports as baseless fabrications attributed to anonymous and unofficial sources.

The statement noted that the claims, which also suggested that the Council threatened that elections would not hold if its alleged demands were not met, were entirely untrue and intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension.

According to the Council, it never issued any directive or statement of such nature, stressing that the misinformation was an attempt to drag the organisation into partisan political controversies.

The SCSN reaffirmed its stance as a non-partisan religious body committed to promoting justice, equity, moral values, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. It emphasized that it operates independently of political interests and avoids actions that could undermine national stability.

However, the Council reiterated its earlier position that the INEC Chairman should either resign or be relieved of his duties. It explained that this position was based on concerns over actions and dispositions attributed to the Chairman, which it said raised questions about neutrality and fairness required for such a sensitive national office.

The Council maintained that its position was not influenced by political or sectarian considerations but rooted in principles of justice and integrity.

It urged the public, particularly members of the Muslim community and the media, to disregard the false narratives and rely only on official communications from the Council.

Director General of Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board Commits to Closer Collaboration with Ministry of Religious Affairs

The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabi'u Danbappa, has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to enhance pilgrimage operations and religious affairs within the state.

Kano Govt Denies Involvement in FGC Kano Land-Swap Deal

The Kano State Government has drawn the attention of the general public to recent publications by some media outlets regarding the alleged land-swap deal involving Federal Government College Kano.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.

The government categorically stated that it is not involved in any arrangement, negotiation, or agreement concerning the said property.

It reiterated that Federal Government College Kano remains under the exclusive rights of the Federal Government under the Federal Ministry of Education, which is solely responsible for decisions relating to the institution.

The state government further clarified that any attempt to link the administration or associates of Abba Kabir Yusuf to the alleged transaction is misleading and unfounded.

While acknowledging concerns raised by members of the public, the government urged media organisations to uphold the principles of accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism, and to avoid publishing unverified or speculative reports.

Wannan shi ne karo na biyu a jere na tashin farashin, kuma hukumar ta ce babban dalilin shi ne ƙarin farashin makamashi da ke da alaƙa da rikici a Gabas ta Tsakiya.

A cikin ƙididdigar, rukunin man gyaɗa shi ne farashinsa ya fi ɗagawa inda shi ne mafi tsananin tashin farashi, wato kashi 5.1 cikin ɗari fiye da Fabrairu, yayin da farashin man ja ya kai matakin da bai taɓa kaiwa ba tun tsakiyar 2022, sakamakon tasirin tashin farashin mai ɗanyen man fetur, in ji FAO.

Shugaban Tinubu ya amince da tsarin Biyan Tiriliyan 3.3 Domin Mayar Da Ingantacciyar Wutar Lantarki

Shugaban ƙasa Bola Tinubu ya amince da tsarin biyan kuɗaɗe domin kammala biyan bashin da ake bin bangaren wutar lantarki a ƙarƙashin Shirin Gyaran Harkokin Kuɗi na Fannin Wutar Lantarki na Ƙasa.

A sanarwar da mai bawa Shugaban kasa Shawara kan yada labarai da dabaru, Bayo Onanuga ya fitar, yace wannan tsarin biyan bashin ya biyo bayan cikakken nazari na ƙarshe kan tsofaffin basussuka da suka addabi bangaren wutar lantarki fiye da shekaru goma.

Basussukan sun taru ne tsakanin watan Fabrairu na shekarar 2015 zuwa Maris na shekarar 2025.

 Bayan tantancewa, an amince da jimillar Naira tiriliyan 3.3 a matsayin cikakken biyan bashin, domin tabbatar da adalci da gaskiya wajen warware matsalar.

An fara aiwatar da shirin, inda tashoshin samar da wutar lantarki guda 15 suka rattaba hannu kan yarjejeniyar karɓar biyan bashin da ya kai Naira tiriliyan 2.3. Gwamnatin Tarayya ta riga ta samar da Naira biliyan 501 domin fara biyan kuɗaɗen. Daga cikin wannan adadi, an riga an fitar da Naira biliyan 223, yayin da ake ci gaba da sauran biyan kuɗaɗen.

“Wannan yana daga cikin manyan gyare-gyaren da ake aiwatarwa  ciki har da inganta tsarin mita (metering) da kuma tsarin farashin sabis wanda ke da alaƙa da ingancin wutar da kake samu da abin da kake biya.”

“Gwamnati na kuma bai wa harkokin kasuwanci, masana’antu, da kananan sana’o’i fifiko wajen samar da wuta  domin ingantacciyar wuta na da matuƙar muhimmanci wajen samar da ayyukan yi, tallafa wa rayuwar jama’a, da bunƙasa tattalin arziki.”

“Manufar ita ce mai sauƙi: ingantacciyar wuta ga gidaje, karin tallafi ga ‘yan kasuwa, da tsarin da zai yi aiki yadda ya kamata ga kowa da kowa,” in ji ta.

The governor emphasized that Kano remains firmly under the control of the ruling political structure, backed by the overwhelming support of the people.
