KHAIRUN University dedicates operational licence to late founder

Family of Founder of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) through Alhaji Anwar Isyaku Rabiu, has described the approval granted by National Universities Commission of full operational license as a clear indication of the management's commitment and determination towards the upliftment of teaching and learning in the university.

Alhaji Anwar Isyaku Rabiu was speaking during the presentation of operational license to the famous University held at the university's premises.

He expressed excitement over the array of successes recorded within a short span of granting their request which he said would not be unconnected with the leadership skills commitment and zeal of the duo of Governing council's Chairman Professor Kabiru Isyaku and that of the management headed by Professor Abdulrashid Garba 
Alhaji Anwar Isyaku Rabiu assured the NUC's team that the university will continue to provide all necessary support and cooperation with a view to complementing the Federal government's efforts in improving teaching and learning countrywide.

In his remarks, the Chairman Board of Trustees of the university Professor Sani Zahradeen, described securing operational licence as part of the late founder of the institution Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu's positive legacies 

Professor Sani Zahradeen charged both the academic and non academic staffers of the university to redouble efforts aimed at making it second to none nationwide 

On his part, chairman of the Governing council, Professor Kabiru Rabiu who was highly overwhelmed, said with the rate of development, attained all hands must be on deck in order to ensure the university sustain its impressive progression.
Professor Kabiru Isyaku however applauded the NUC and all those who contributed directly or indirectly in reaching the feat.praying to God to reward them superbly 

Earlier, the university's Vice chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba reechoed the commitment, cooperation and support by all and sundry, which he said played a significant role in ensuring the ends justify the means, which according to him will remain in the annals of history 

Professor Abdulrashid Garba moreover expressed undiluted gratitude to the members of the Board of Trustees, Governing council and the entire management staffers for their unflinching dedication, level of patriotism and sacrifice 

Highlights of the event include presentation of certificate, posthumous prayer for the deceased founder, Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu and group photograph

KHAIRUN Launches Female Students’ Masjid



In a significant step towards promoting spiritual development and discipline, Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), has officially commissioned a new Masjid dedicated to its female students.

Speaking at the occasion held earlier, the University Management highlighted that the Masjid was established to encourage congregational prayers, provide a space for Islamic discussions and preaching, as well as to help regulate students’ movements in line with the university’s policy of prioritizing students’ welfare and safety—especially for female students.

A statement signed by the acting director of corporate affairs and marketing directory of the university, Bilal Dahiru Tijjani, said the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, along with other principal officers, was in attendance and wished all female students the very best as they took full advantage of this important milestone.

KHAIRUN VC Condoles Governor Dikko Radda over the loss of his mother

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, has extends his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, over the death of his beloved mother, Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Barebari.

Professor Abdulrashid Garba who described the governor's mother's death as a great loss not only to his family but to the entire people of Katsina State and the country at large.

"On behalf of the Senate, management, staff, and students of the university, we pray to Allah (SWT) to grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and give the Governor, his family, and loved ones the strength to bear this loss.''

In a message by the head of corporate affairs and marketing department of the university, Bilal Dahiru Tijjani, the vice chancellor says he shares in the grief of the Governor and his family.

He also prayed that Allah will comfort him, his immediate and extended families as well as all that are bereaved.

KHAIRUN VC lauds BUK management for support

The vice chancellor of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) Professor Abdulrashid Garba, has reaffirmed the university's commitment towards partnering with Bayero University Kano BUK aimed at improving and developing it academic activities.

Professor Abdulrashid Garba stated this when he led KHAIRUN's management on a courtesy visit to the BUK's vice chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas in his office.
A statement signed by the head of corporate affairs and marketing department, Bilal Dahiru Tijjani and it available to newsmen, said the visit was part of KHAIRUN's management efforts to improve it academic activities.

Professor Abdulrashid Garba who acknowledged BUK support on various aspects academically among others as a guiding institution for KHAIRUN.
He expressed deep appreciation to BUK’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, and the entire management for their continued assistance. 

He reaffirmed KHAIRUN’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with BUK, seeking its expertise in academic matters, and soliciting further guidance for the university’s sustained progress.

In response, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas warmly welcomed KHAIRUN’s delegation, describing the university’s journey so far as highly successful. 

He highlighted the dedication and financial commitment of KHAIRUN’s proprietors, which have contributed significantly to its achievements. 

Prof. Abbas also praised Prof. Garba, recognizing him as one of BUK’s distinguished academics with unquestionable leadership qualities.

 He further described KHAIRUN as one of the leading private universities in Nigeria, pledging continuous support, mentorship, and collaboration, particularly in research.

In his remarks, the KHAIRUN’s Registrar, Malam Yusuf Datti, thanked BUK’s management for their continuous support and guidance, which has played a crucial role in the remarkable progress KHAIRUN has achieved in just two years.

1st Kanawa Tertiary institution basketball championship: KHAIRUN VC tasks students on academic and sports

Students have been urged to utilize their potential skills both academically and sporting events in order to actualize their set objectives in life.

The Vice chancellor of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu university KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba made the call during the on going 1st Kanawa Tertiary institution basketball championship semi- final between Bayero university Kano BUK and KHAIRUN' held at BUK old site basketball court.

Professor Abdulrashid Garba who described sports nowaday as a lucrative venture and at the same time use it to unite different ethnic groups for the development of the country.

The vice chancellor charged the students to exhibits sportsmanship as both players were brothers.

While expressing gratitude to the sponsors of the tournament, he called on other wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to contribute their quota towards the overall development of various sporting events in higher institutions and the country at large.

"Honestly speaking I'm really impress with the general organisation of the championship and we hope this kind of tournament will be sustain quarterly or annually so as it will keep the students to develop their skills," he explained.

In the first semi final played Bayero university Kano BUK hammered KHAIRUN 60-13 points. With this victory, BUK has qualified for the final of the championship scheduled to hold tomorrow Saturday at the same venue.

KHAIRUN, BUK two others for 1st Kanawa Tertiary institution basketball championship semi- final tomorrow

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu university KHAIRUN basketball team will lock horns with Bayero university Kano BUK in the first semi final of the on-going  1st Kanawa Tertiary institution basketball championship.

The second semi final is between Aliko Dangote university of science and technology Wudil and Northwest University Kano .

The matches will be played at the BUK basketball court tomorrow Friday from 4:pm to 6:pm.

The competition which is organised in collaboration with DAM Foundation as a training ground ahead of zonal preliminaries and Nigerian University Games Association NUGA proper scheduled to hold at Jos university in May, 2025.

Speaking on the tournament, the chairman of NUGA technical committee, Professor Musa Garba Yakasai AA described the championship as a way of training and recruit hidden talented students for zonal and national engagements.

While commending the DAM Foundation for supporting and sponsoring the  championship, he urged them to extend the sponsorship to NUGA in order to complement it commitment to the development of various sporting events in the country.

Meanwhile, the vice chancellor of Bayero University Kano , Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas alongside other stakeholders and the Director General of National Energy commission, Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha are expected to attend the closing ceremony scheduled for tomorrow Saturday at the same venue by 4pm.

KHAIRUN VC greets Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo at 47 year

The Vice-Chancellor of Khalifah Isyaku Rabiu university KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba has greeted professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo at 47 year.

A statement signed by KHAIRUN's head of corporate affairs and marketing department, Bilal Dahiru Tijjani said on behalf of the university's management is wishing a happy blessed birthday to a Nigerian educationist, philanthropist, the Founder and President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, (MAAUN) Group of Universities as well as the President of the Association of African Private Universities (AAPU).

The statement added that ''As an educationist and philanthropist, you've made an indelible mark on our community. Your birthday is a celebration of your life's work and the countless lives you've touched. "

"We're honoured to know you and grateful for your friendship,'' the statement concluded.

KHAIRUN gets new sports facilities, as VC, Prof. Garba equates action with economic dev’t

As the Khalifah Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), Kano, launches its newly constructed basketball and tennis courts, its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulraheed Garba, has observed that sports as the fastest growing industry in the global economic circuit. 


Professor Garba said sports is now a lucrative business, stressing that it it could be running in tandem with education in no distant time.


According to him, sports now occupy a strategic place in the socio-economic development of nations across the world.


The university authority, he noted, has keen interest in promoting sports, a situation which has culminated in its motivation of its students to develop their skills through the provision of top class sports facilities to encourage their indulgence in various sporting events aimed at to propelling them for participation in future national and international engagements.


Urging the students to redouble their effort with a view to achieve their set out objectives in life, the Vice Chancellor explained that education and sports if combined could catapult them to ascend to higher heights on the global stage.


He commended the proprietor of the institution for his commitment and support towards the development of education and charged the students to utilize the facilities provided in order to actualize their set target.


Professor Garba who was renown for his prowess as a former basketball star emphasized that the significance of education and sports is unique and unquantifiable.


In his remarks, the guest speaker at the occasion, Professor Musa Garba Yakasai said sports is one of the factors uniting various ethnic groups in Nigeria, adding that it is a tool used in projecting the positive image of nations that have invested massively in the sector.


In their separate remarks, the former Vice chancellor of Northwest University, Professor Mustapha Isa and KHAIRUN's registrar, Yusuf Datti urged the students to utilize the facilities for their benefits.


Delivering a vote of thanks, the director of sports of the university, Aishatu Dauda, pledged to work tirelessly towards the promotion and development of sports in the state.


Highlights of the event include the launching of the courts by Professor B.A. Haruna of the faculty of law, Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and a novelty match between selected students of the university.
