NSC Commends NSSF, NCF, SUBEB for Successful Inaugural National School Board Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko has commended the successful hosting of the inaugural National School Board Games, describing it as a significant step in the advancement of school sports in Nigeria. The event, which featured chess in its pilot phase, was organized by the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) in collaboration with the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Nigeria Chess Federation. With over 300 students from all six geopolitical zones competing in the U-9, U-12, U-15, and U-18 categories, the tournament provided a platform for young athletes to develop critical thinking, discipline, and competitive excellence. NSSF lines up sports competitions for secondary schools nationwide

The Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF) has lined up sporting activities for secondary schools aimed at developing and improving the skills of students across the country. The NSSF's President Olabisi Joseph said from next week February 10, invited secondary schools from 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja would converge in Lagos for Swimming and chess championships while Milo stakeholders Forum meeting and administrative seminar will follow up. She dropped this hints while briefing newsmen in Lagos ahead of the tournaments. On Saturday, the Kabir Abubakar Bichi Foundation, under the chairmanship of Dr. Habibu Usman Abdu, inaugurated the support of a 20 thousand Naira stipend each to students who are indigenes of Bichi. The event was held at FCE T Bichi. It's a tradition maintained by Rep Abubakar Kabir Abubakar to support indigent students from Bichi when they return to boarding school during every term and after vacation. In his remarks during the occasion, Rep Abubakar Kabir Abubakar urged the students to dedicate themselves to their studies and pledged to continue helping them. 2024/2025 Academic Session:Kano Shifts Schools Resumption Date To 17th Sept, 2024

Kano State Government has shifted resumption date for all day public/private primary and post-primary schools in the state to Tuesday 17th September, 2024. While pupils and students in boarding schools across the state will resume on Monday 16th September, 2024.  A statement signed by the Director Public Enlightenment of the State Ministry of Education, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru quoted the state Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa explaining that the adjustment follows declaration of 16th Sept, 2024 as public holiday to celebrate Eid-el Maulud. " The adjustment is therefore to allow students to celebrate this holy date which marks the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). School Encroachment: Kano Ministerial Committee Visits Over 160 Schools, 42 Need Urgent Govt. Attention, 90 Need Wall Fencing

......As the Committee Submits its Report Kano Ministerial Committee on Land Encroachment and Trespass in Schools has submitted it's final report after visiting over 160 affected public schools across the 44 Local Government Areas of the State. It could be recalled that on 22nd February, 2024, 16-member committee on land encroachment and trespass in school was set up by the state to identify schools affected with problems of trespass or encroachment and examine their level in the vulnerable schools. Presenting the final report of the committee findings to the Commissioner of Education today Friday, the Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Habib Hassan El-Yakub maintained that upon the inauguration of the committee, the members mobilised for the pursuit of the assignment by going round all the identified schools to access the level of trespass or encroachment.
