Kano Govt. Trains Public Secondary Schools Teachers On Modern Fish Farming

The Kano State Government has commenced refresher training of over 72 secondary schools teachers on modern fish farming to ensure step down training to students across the state.

Declaring the training open organized by Kano State Educational Resource Department (KERD), the State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda revealed that the move is part of government's effort to make students self reliance.

Dr. Ali Makoda explained that the program was designed to be a train the trainer refresher course where the participants who also teach fisheries in schools would eventually embark on step down training to students across the state.

According to the Commissioner, Kano Government is committed to providing entrepreneurship training to Secondary Schools Students across the state to make them self reliance after leaving schools.

" Vocational skills are the most effective means of improving students’ livelihoods, especially at this time. This government is initiating more ways to provide Students with necessary skills to become self reliance and sustain their family in future " said Makoda.

He therefore urged the participants to fully utilize what they are going to learn for effective step down training for students in schools.

Ali Makoda cited that Kano State like China, has been blessed with population if fully utilized, would help in boosting the state economy sector, stressing that...." this is what the present administration is doing to achieve economic stability through heavy educational investment".

Makoda further commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving the ministry of education the opportunity to deliver its mandates effectively.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammed who outlined overview of the training, explained that the government of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf had done all what is needed to enhancing the quality of education in the state.

Earlier, the Director Kano Educational Resource Department Hajiya Rabi Inuwa Hussain explained the purpose of establishing the center and how it would benefit students across the state.

During the program, the Commissioner was conducted round to supervise the newly established Fish Ponds where the participants acquired practical knowledge on modern fish farming.

Kano Govt. Trains Information Officers on Digital Public Communication

Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to enhancing professionalism in public communication. 

He made this known while declaring open a three-day capacity-building workshop for Information Officers from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as well as Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The workshop, organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kano Branch, is taking place at Babale Suites, behind Race Course.

Comrade Waiya commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for approving and funding the training, noting that the administration prioritizes human capital development as a pillar of good governance. 

He emphasized that equipping government personnel with modern communication skills is essential for strengthening governance and fostering public engagement.

Speaking on the theme of the workshop, Innovative Approaches Towards Enhancing Public Communication in a Digital Age, the Commissioner underscored the need for Information Officers to adapt to the evolving digital landscape.

He highlighted the importance of digital tools, social media engagement, and data-driven communication in ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination. 

Waiya noted that the role of Information Officers goes beyond merely disseminating information, as they serve as the bridge between the government and the people, shaping public perception and ensuring transparency. In an era of misinformation, their ability to provide credible and timely updates is crucial in maintaining public trust.

He further expressed appreciation to the NIPR for its partnership in promoting professionalism in public communication, reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to continuous collaboration with media organizations and professional bodies. 

The Commissioner urged participants to actively engage in the training and apply the knowledge gained to enhance government communication and service delivery.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Adamu Bala Muhammad, highlighted the invaluable role of the facilitators, whose expertise and insights will empower participants to become more strategic and efficient in their duties.

He encouraged participants to maximize this opportunity by actively engaging in discussions and applying the knowledge gained to improve government communication, enhance public trust, and strengthen the relationship between the government and the people.

In his remarks, a Council member of the NIPR, Associate Professor Sule Ya’u Sule, stated that the NIPR is the regulatory body for all public relations practitioners in Nigeria and emphasized that it is illegal to practice public relations without registering with the institute.

Also speaking, the Kano State Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Aliyu Yusuf, commended the state government for sponsoring the workshop and for its willingness to register all Information Officers attached to MDAs and local governments with the NIPR.

Kano Govt Comdemns APC's Plan for Shadow Govt, Describes it as Illegal and Political Desperation

The recent statement credited to the National Chairman of the APC Patriotic Volunteers, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, announcing the group’s intention to form a shadow government in Kano State, is not only a desperate and politically motivated scheme but also a dangerous move with serious social and legal implications for the entire state and Nigeria’s democratic system.

Let me remind these elements within the Kano APC that, in a democratic system like ours, forming a government within a government is entirely illegal and unconstitutional. A shadow government, as practiced in the United Kingdom, exists within a parliamentary system where opposition parties appoint "shadow ministers" to scrutinize the ruling government. However, Nigeria operates a presidential system, which neither recognizes nor supports such a structure outside the institutional framework of the law.

Democracy does not permit anyone to lose their sense of judgment simply because they have lost relevance within their party’s political structure. Therefore, the right to freedom of expression does not grant anyone the liberty to make reckless statements or take actions that undermine constitutional governance and the sovereignty of an elected government.

Contemplating the formation of a shadow government is further proof of the APC’s continued plot to destabilize Kano State and create chaos. Such actions will not be tolerated by the Kano State Government. The government stands ready to take decisive action against any individual or group involved in acts capable of disturbing the relative peace in the state, regardless of their social status or perceived political influence, in accordance with the laws of Kano State and Nigeria.

It is on record that the APC, as a party in Kano State, has lost its political relevance and influence. This latest move by some self-deceiving elements only confirms the APC’s desperation to remain relevant after its overwhelming rejection at the polls. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration was duly elected by the good people of Kano State and has, within a short period, recorded remarkable achievements in developmental projects and policies aimed at improving the lives of the people.

The NNPP-led government in Kano State, under the visionary leadership of Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf, remains the most focused state government in the country, with clearly defined goals in key sectors. In education, it has allocated the highest budgetary resources in the country, ensuring significant improvements in learning infrastructure and access to quality education. In healthcare, the government has made substantial investments in medical services and hospital infrastructure to improve public health outcomes. Infrastructure development has also been prioritized, with numerous projects aimed at transforming Kano State into a modern economic hub.

Furthermore, the administration is deeply committed to youth and women empowerment through various programs designed to provide economic opportunities and improve livelihoods. Efforts in poverty eradication have been intensified, ensuring that the most vulnerable citizens receive necessary support. Institutional reforms in governance have also been a major focus, with policies such as non-interference in the fight against corruption and an open procurement process that aligns with best practices in accountability, transparency, and openness. 

The administration has also taken steps to restore the integrity of the civil service and improve the welfare of government workers. Additionally, the periodic payment of gratuities and pensions for retirees who were previously neglected by the APC government—remains a top priority of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.

The people of Kano State have embraced a government committed to good governance and sustainable development. No amount of political maneuvering or sinister plots can distract His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, from delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of Kano State. The APC has been reduced to nothing more than a relic of history in the state.

Consequently, reckless and unconstitutional declarations will not change the reality that the APC has been rejected in Kano State. Instead of making self-deceiving threats, the APC Patriotic Volunteers should respect the democratic will of the people and allow Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to continue delivering on its mandate.

Kano Govt Seeks AI Investment as Commissioner Visits Afrilab AI Hub in Zaria

The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing digital innovation and youth empowerment through artificial intelligence (AI).

During a working visit to Afrilab AI Hub in Zaria, the Commissioner inspected the company’s operations and training facilities, acknowledging its role in equipping young talents with cutting-edge AI skills.

The Commissioner stated that the visit was in line with the directive of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf to engage the management of Afrilab AI Hub in discussions on the possibility of relocating their operations to Kano State. 

He emphasized that the state government is keen on fostering an enabling environment for AI-driven development, aligning with its vision for technological advancement and economic growth.

Comrade Waiya assured the company of the government’s full support, including necessary policy backing and incentives, to facilitate their establishment in Kano. 

He noted that the presence of Afrilab AI Hub in the state would accelerate skill development, create job opportunities, and position Kano as a leader in AI and digital technology.

He further reiterated that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to initiatives that enhance the lives of young people, particularly through modern technology and innovation.

Welcoming the Commissioner, the Chief Executive Officer of Sinnts Technology Limited, Abdullahi Shu’aibu Damat, expressed his delight at the visit and his willingness to partner with the Kano State Government on AI technology.

Shu’aibu Damat assured the Commissioner of their readiness to collaborate with the Kano State Government and pledged to work together to create digital job opportunities for the teeming youth in Kano through AI skills development and training.

He also expressed the company’s commitment to relocating its headquarters to Kano, leveraging the state's existing infrastructure to support its operations and expansion.
