NNGF Chairman Inuwa Yahaya Receives Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf in Gombe

The Chairman of the Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has received his Kano State counterpart, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the Government House, Gombe, where both leaders held a closed-door meeting.

During a brief interaction before the closed door meeting, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya's leadership of the Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum and expressed admiration for the scale of infrastructure development he witnessed on his way from the airport to the Government House, 

He noted that Gombe had undergone a significant transformation since his last visit.

"I have seen quite a lot of mind-boggling infrastructure. The last time I came to Gombe, the city was not like this. I am astonished by the level of development that I have seen," Governor Yusuf remarked.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya thanked his Kano counterpart for the visit and appreciated his generous remarks. 

The Gombe Governor was joined by his Deputy,  Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau to receive his visitor.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Confirms Mai mota as Head of Civil Service

The Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has confirmed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as the substantive Kano State Head of Civil Service, Wednesday.

Her confirmation as a substantive Head of Civil Service in Kano State is sealing her rise to one of the most powerful administrative positions in the state and signaling a new phase in the ongoing reform of the public service.

This was contained in the statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, which came on the heels of a high-profile event marking the unveiling of the sixth tranche of payments aimed at clearing long-standing gratuities and death benefits owed to pensioners and families of deceased civil servants.

The timing is anything but coincidental. With the government pushing aggressively to settle inherited liabilities, the confirmation of Maimota is seen as a strategic move to stabilize the bureaucracy and inject fresh energy into a system.

Barely one month ago, Maimota stepped into the role in an acting capacity following the removal of Alhaji Abdullahi Musa. Her swift elevation to substantive status underscores the administration’s confidence in her leadership and ability to navigate the complex terrain of civil service reform.

Governor Yusuf, while announcing the confirmation, charged the new Head of Service to deploy her decade-long experience toward revamping the system, emphasizing the need to consolidate ongoing reforms and deliver a more responsive, efficient, and accountable public service.

He also extended warm congratulations to Maimota, expressing optimism that her tenure would usher in measurable improvements across ministries, departments, and agencies, at a time when expectations from the workforce and the public remain high.

Permanent Secretary Commends Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Over Education Recovery Agenda

The Permanent Secretary Kano State Ministry of Education Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad has commended Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for improving the state education sector through his systematic education recovery agenda.

In a statement signed by the Director Public Enlightenment of the Ministry, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, said the Alhaji Bashir Baffa made the commendation today Tuesday during an inspection visit to some schools as part of monitoring exercise embarks upon by the ministry across the state.

Bashir Baffa noted that since inception of the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf a lot have done to revitalize the education sector being the first priority of its cardinal agenda.

He explained that it was based on this commitment, the management of education ministry under the State Commissioner Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa embarks on inspection visit to schools across the state to monitor the progress so far especially in terms of school feeding and infrastructural development.

" This morning, we have been to Government Girls Secondary School Shekara and meet the students on breakfast time. I am happy to report that the food given to the students was very cleaned and enough to satisfy them.

" What my eye saw at Government Secondary School Gwale was also quite impressive because the school premises was neat and tidy and even the conduct of the staff was commendable" the PS added.

Alhaji Bashir further assured of the ministry commitment in complementing the effort of the State Executive Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in moving the education sector forward.

While receiving the Permanently Secretary, the Principal of Government Girls Secondary School Shekara Hajiya Zainab Ado Ma'aji thanked the State Governor for his zeal and fashion in ensuring access and quality of education in the state.

" We have nothing to say but to thank His Excellency for his concern and total commitment to bring new changes to our education system which we are currently witnessing in the state " said Zainab.

She appeals to the state government to consider converting casual staff working in the school to permanent workers to enable them give their maximum contributions.

The Principal of Government Secondary School Gwale Malam Rabiu Usaini Gano also narrated how the school is now progressing despite the vacant junior students classes that characterized the school due to the federal government de-articulation policy.
