Governor Yusuf set to distribute N3b for flood victims in Kano

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has completed arrangements to flag off distribution of three billion naira (N3b) to victims of flood in last rainy season in the affected areas. Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf disclosed this while declaring opened the 23rd State Executive Council Meeting held at Kano Government House today. A statement issued by Governor's spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Wednesday said, Governor Yusuf revealed that the amount was donated by the Federal Government to the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory as intervention for the 2024 flood disaster. The governor further revealed that the money was remitted to the state treasury few months ago in preparation for onward distribution the the affected victims. He added that the administration kept the money appropriately to identify the real victims who will benefit from the gesture of the Federal Government and ensure produnce, accountability and responsiveness in the process. ...

NSCDC rescues 13 victims of human trafficking in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has rescued 13 victims of human trafficking, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports. The State Commandant of the corps, Mohammed Lawal-Falala, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Kano. Lawal-Falala, disclosed that the victims were rescued on May 20, at Dan Tsinke Quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area of the state. According to him, we received an information that a man keeps young female children in his house and traffick them to Cameroon to seek for greener pasture. ”On receiving the information, a special surveillance was coordinated by the corps operatives attached to Tarauni Division and the victims were rescued.” He also disclosed that one suspect was arrested by the operatives of the corps for keeping the victims in his house, while the two prime suspects were still at large.
