2026 World Public Relations Forum: Gov. Yusuf Pledges Government Support to Kano NIPR Chapter

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assured the Kano State Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) of his administration’s full support towards ensuring the successful participation of the state’s delegation at the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) scheduled to hold in Abuja in November.

The Governor gave the assurance today when he received the executive members and other members of the Kano State Council of NIPR at the Government House, shortly after the council and other public relations practitioners in the state concluded a Road Walk Show organised as part of activities preparatory to the forthcoming international forum.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad in Kano on Saturday.

Represented by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the state government would do everything within its capacity to facilitate the successful participation of the Kano delegation at the WPRF.
He described the forum as an important platform for public relations practitioners to exchange ideas, examine emerging trends and strengthen the profession in line with contemporary demands.

The Governor also pledged to allocate a plot of land for the construction of a permanent secretariat for the Kano State Council of NIPR, describing the initiative as part of the government’s commitment to strengthening professional institutions and creating an enabling environment for public relations practitioners to operate effectively.
Governor Yusuf further assured journalists and media practitioners working in Kano of the continued commitment of his administration to their safety, welfare and professional development.

According to him, the Kano State Government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting journalists and media practitioners through various interventions, including capacity-building programmes, provision of working equipment and support for their welfare and healthcare, among other initiatives.

The Governor urged journalists in the state to uphold professional standards and ethical principles in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly in the rapidly changing digital media environment.

He also called on media practitioners to make effective and responsible use of social media platforms in promoting good governance, accountability, peace and development, while ensuring that information disseminated to the public meets established professional standards.

Earlier, a former member of the National Executive Council of the NIPR, Professor Sule Ya’u Sule, explained that the delegation visited the Governor to formally brief him about the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum and the objectives of the international gathering.

He said the 2026 WPRF would provide an opportunity to review and re-examine the concept and practice of public relations in light of emerging trends, technological developments and the changing communication landscape.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Kano State Council of NIPR, Malam Aliyu Yusuf, congratulated Governor Yusuf on the multiple awards he has received in recognition of his administration’s transformation efforts in Kano State.

He disclosed that the Kano State Council was considering conferring a Patronship on Governor Yusuf in recognition of his support for the council and his commitment to the development of the public relations and media profession in the state.

NAHCON Chairman Urges Early Registration for 2026 Hajj, Attributes 2025 Success to Divine Blessings

The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful conduct of the 2025 Hajj operations, stating that the achievement is a result of divine intervention and collective effort.

He was speaking to journalists in Kano shortly after his return from the just concluded Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Professor Saleh noted that the success recorded this year was not his alone, nor that of the Commission, but a blessing from Allah who made the entire operation smooth and fruitful.

“Our success in this year’s Hajj is by the grace of Allah. It is not mine, nor is it solely NAHCON’s it is Allah who blessed this exercise and guided us all through it,” he said.

He commended the cooperation of Nigerian pilgrims and acknowledged the positive contributions of all stakeholders, including members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House of Representatives Committee on Hajj.

“You’ve heard it all from our leaders from the Senate and House Committees. They spoke on my behalf and expressed what is in my heart. I also thank the media sincerely for helping us take our message to the public. We are happy with your dedication and cooperation,” he added.

The NAHCON Chairman lauded the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, describing their backing as a key factor in the successful delivery of the 2025 Hajj operations.

“We sincerely appreciate the Federal Government of Nigeria. President Tinubu gave us full support. Vice President Shettima, under whose office we operate, monitored our progress closely always asking what is happening today, and what is planned for tomorrow. That level of support helped us to work as one team with mutual respect,” he said.

Looking ahead to the 2026 Hajj, Professor Saleh assured Nigerians that NAHCON is better prepared than ever before.

“InshaAllah, with the experience we’ve gathered and the lessons we’ve learned this year, we are fully ready for next year. We pray to Almighty Allah to make the 2026 Hajj even more successful and rewarding than this year’s,” he concluded.
