Gov. Yusuf Mourns AKTH Radiologist, late Dr. Mansur Yahuza

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow and extended his heartfelt condolences over the death of a Consultant Radiologist at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Dr. Mansur Yahuza who died yesterday after an illness.

In a condolence issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf described the death of Dr. Yahuza as a painful loss to his family, the medical profession, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and the entire people of Kano State, saying that his contributions to the healthcare sector would remain deeply appreciated and remembered.

The Governor, commiserated with the deceased’s immediate family, colleagues, friends, professional associates and the management and staff of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital over the sudden passing of the renowned medical doctor.

He described Dr. Mansur Yahuza as a dedicated medical professional who devoted his knowledge, expertise and years of service to the diagnosis and treatment of patients, contributing significantly to the advancement of healthcare delivery in the state and beyond.

Governor Yusuf noted that the deceased’s commitment to his profession, compassion for patients and service to humanity had earned him the respect and admiration of those who worked with him and benefited from his expertise.

He prayed to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to forgive Dr. Mansur Yahuza’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

Governor Yusuf also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased’s family, relatives, colleagues and loved ones the fortitude and strength to bear the irreparable loss and endure the trying moment.

Governor Yusuf condoles Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh over wife’s death

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has condoled with Nigeria’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh, and the family over the death of his first wife, Assiyidah Zahra’a.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.

Assiyidah Zahra’a died on Saturday at Nizamyyeh Hospital in Abuja after a period of illness. She left behind five children, including former Nigerian Ambassador to Morocco, Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim Saleh.

Governor Yusuf expressed shock and sadness over the death, describing it as a painful loss to the family and the Muslim Ummah.

The Governor also condoled with the Borno State Government and the people of the state, praying Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.

Governor Yusuf prayed Allah to grant Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh and the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.

Gov. Yusuf Approves Salary Increase for Staff of Two Kano Universities

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the implementation of a new salary review for Academic and Non-Academic Staff of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, and Northwest University, Kano.

The new increase in salary was adopted from the Federal Government’s new remuneration package implemented at the Federal Universities in Nigeria. 

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday.

The approval followed a report and recommendations of a committee constituted by the State Executive Council to examine and review requests by the two state-owned universities for the domestication of the new salary package.

Under the approved arrangement, the new remuneration package will take effect from January 2026, while payment will commence in September 2026.

The salary review will have a total financial implication of ₦391,847,555.24 monthly, amounting to ₦4,702,170,662.88 annually for the two universities.

For Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, the monthly financial implication is ₦228,195,210.83, comprising ₦141,082,223.37 for Academic Staff under the ASUU agreement and ₦87,112,987.46 for Non-Academic Staff under SSANU.

For Northwest University, Kano, the monthly implication is ₦163,652,344.41, comprising ₦112,238,985.30 for Academic Staff and ₦51,413,359.11 for Non-Academic Staff.

The government has approved the inclusion of ₦1,567,390,220.96 in the 2026 Supplementary Budget to cover payments from September to December 2026.

Similarly, arrears covering the period from January to August 2026, amounting to ₦3,134,780,441.92, will be provided for under the 2027 Budget.

The decision, according to the committee’s report, is aimed at ensuring industrial harmony and improving the welfare of staff of the two institutions, in line with the implementation of the new remuneration package in federal universities and other state-owned universities.

Governor Yusuf also approved the consideration of Visitation Panels for the two universities and other tertiary institutions in the state, as provided by relevant laws, to strengthen accountability, administration and effective management of the institutions.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and strengthening the quality of higher education as part of its broader investment in human capital development.

Gov. Yusuf appreciates Emirs, Ulama, North-West governors for supporting Kano mass wedding

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed appreciation to traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, North-West governors and other dignitaries for their contributions towards the success of the state’s mass wedding programme.

Governor Yusuf particularly acknowledged the Chairman of the Council of Emirs and the Emirs of Kano, Rano, Karaye and Gaya for their fatherly guidance, prayers and valuable contributions to the occasion.
He also appreciated the Ulama who travelled from different parts of the country to attend the ceremony, describing their prayers and guidance as important to the success of the programme.
The Governor commended his counterparts in the North-West, including Katsina State Governor Umar Dikko Radda, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi and Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris, as well as their representatives, for honouring the occasion.
He equally appreciated the leadership and staff of the Kano State Hisbah Board under Commander-General Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa for their dedication and commitment to promoting moral values, peace and the wellbeing of communities.
Governor Yusuf also expressed gratitude to the business community, diplomatic corps, civil society organisations, development partners and other guests who attended or sent goodwill messages.


Gov. Yusuf urges 1,500 newlyweds to uphold patience, justice in marriage

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged the 1,500 couples who benefited from the state government’s mass wedding programme to build their homes on patience, justice, mutual respect and understanding.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governors spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Saturday.

The Governor made the call while addressing the newly married couples, reminding them that marriage is an act of ibadah and should therefore be conducted in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

He advised the couples to respect one another, uphold fairness in their homes and ensure peaceful coexistence, while also putting into practice the lessons they received during the pre-marital counselling sessions.

Governor Yusuf prayed for Allah’s blessings upon their marriages and for righteous children who would become beneficial to their families, society and humanity.

Gov. Yusuf provides food support for 1,500 newly married couples

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged to provide food items and other essential commodities to the 1,500 couples who benefited from the state government’s mass wedding programme.

Governor Yusuf said the support is aimed at cushioning the hardship the newly married couples may encounter during the early days of their marriages.

He congratulated the couples for beginning a new chapter in their lives, urging them to regard marriage as an act of worship and conduct their matrimonial lives in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Gov. Yusuf Enforces Traffic Regulations in Kano

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday personally supervised traffic compliance at Kofar Fanfo Junction, where he spent over one hour ensuring motorists obeyed traffic light signals.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.

The Governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, and other senior government officials during the exercise aimed at restoring discipline and order on Kano roads.

Governor Yusuf directed motorists, commercial drivers, tricycle operators, and pedestrians to strictly comply with traffic regulations, stressing that adherence to traffic lights is essential for safeguarding lives and property.

He announced that his administration is set to reposition the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) to effectively function as a professional traffic management agency focused on the safety of road users.

The Governor said the agency would be strengthened to improve traffic control, enforce road regulations, and promote a culture of compliance across the state.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a safer, more orderly, and efficient transportation system for the benefit of all residents.

The Governor, who expressed displeasure over the recklessness of road users and their non-compliance with the newly installed traffic lights, said such multi-billion naira infrastructure should not be underutilized.

“Traffic offenders should be closely monitored and punished by the relevant authorities to ensure that the equipment is not relegated to merely a city decoration,” Gov. Yusuf warned.


Gov. Yusuf launches sickle cell centre, distributes 300 digital health monitors

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially launched a Sickle Cell Centre to provide comprehensive care and treatment for people living with sickle cell disease in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday.

Governor Yusuf also flagged off the symbolic distribution of free maternal and Accident & Emergency commodities, new hospital bed sheets, and 300 customised digital blood pressure monitors at Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital.

The governor said the Sickle Cell Centre would offer free diagnosis, counselling, treatment, follow-up care, patient education, health promotion, and specialised management of sickle cell disease under one roof.

He assured patients of his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing adequate medicines and other essential support aimed at improving their health and wellbeing.

Governor Yusuf explained that the decision to procure and distribute 300 customised digital blood pressure monitors to public servants and political appointees followed growing concerns over sudden deaths linked to hypertension, noting that the initiative would encourage regular health checks and promote a healthier workforce.

The governor reaffirmed that the free maternal and Accident & Emergency commodities programme had already saved thousands of lives across the state and pledged to sustain the intervention.

He commended the Commissioner for Health, the management of the Hospital Management Board, healthcare workers, traditional rulers, and development partners for their collective efforts in transforming the state’s healthcare sector.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar, described Governor Yusuf as a leader committed to improving the health of Kano residents, noting that healthcare facilities had witnessed remarkable upgrades since the administration came into office.

He disclosed that maternal mortality had dropped significantly under the present administration, from over 1,300 recorded cases in 2023 to about 300 in 2026.

The Executive Secretary of the Hospital Management Board, Dr. Mansur Nagoda, said the governor’s intervention would benefit thousands of residents, adding that the Abba Gida-Gida administration had transformed the health sector to an unprecedented level.


Gov. Yusuf commissions Kano Centre for Disease Control

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commissioned the Kano Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC), located within the premises of the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Kano Municipality, as part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening public health and disease prevention across the state.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Yusuf said he was delighted to witness the completion of a project whose foundation he personally laid, describing the Centre as a landmark achievement in the administration’s drive to build a resilient and responsive healthcare system.

The Governor expressed confidence that the facility would significantly improve disease surveillance, prevention, diagnosis, and emergency response, while enhancing the state’s capacity to protect residents from emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained investment in the health sector through the provision of modern infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, and skilled healthcare professionals to ensure better health outcomes for the people of Kano State.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, described the Centre as a major boost to the state’s public health system, noting that it would play a critical role in the prevention, detection, monitoring, and control of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis, cholera, HIV/AIDS, and other infectious diseases.

He explained that the Centre is equipped with modern facilities, advanced technology, and trained personnel to improve early outbreak detection, coordinate emergency responses, and strengthen collaboration with relevant health institutions and development partners.

Dr. Labaran Yusuf commended Governor Yusuf for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to transforming the healthcare sector. He also appreciated development partners whose technical and financial support contributed to the successful completion and equipping of the facility to meet global public health standards.

The Kano Centre for Disease Control is a state-of-the-art public health institution established to strengthen disease surveillance, laboratory diagnosis, emergency preparedness, epidemiological research, and rapid response to disease outbreaks.

The Centre will also serve as the state’s coordinating hub for public health interventions, enhance epidemiological intelligence, and deepen collaboration with national and international partners in preventing and containing infectious diseases across Kano State.

Kosan Waka Passes on as Gov. Yusuf condoles family

The Kano State Government has announced with profound sadness the passing of renowned political singer, Muhammadu Buhari, popularly known as Kosan Waka, who died on Sunday at the age of 47.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.

According to the family, Muhammadu Buhari Kosan Waka died on Sunday at the age of 47 and will be laid to rest in Tsanni village, Batagarawa LGA, Katsina by 5pm today.

Governor Yusuf has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, particularly his mother, as well as his friends, associates, admirers and the entire people of Kano State. 

The Governor described the late Kosan Waka as a Kano based patriotic son of Katsina whose music transcended politics and served as a powerful tool for promoting unity, culture and public enlightenment. 

He prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, expand his grave, admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus and grant his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

The late Kosan Waka was one of Kano’s most celebrated political singers, whose talent, creativity and captivating performances earned him admiration across the country. 

His contributions to the growth of political communication and Hausa entertainment will remain indelible.

The Kano State Governor joins the the entertainment industry and millions of admirers across Nigeria in mourning this painful loss and prays that Allah (SWT) grants the deceased eternal rest.

Gov. Yusuf Condoles Sokoto Governor, Sultan, and People of Sokoto Over the Death of Former Finance Minister

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar III, the government and people of Sokoto State over the passing of Nigeria's former Minister of Finance, former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and the Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, who died on Thursday at a hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.

Gov. Yusuf Receives FG Delegation Ahead of Groundbreaking of Kano Light Rail Project

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has received a delegation from the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and Mota-Engil Nigeria ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kano Light Rail Project recently approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The delegation, led by the Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang of Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and the Chairman of Mota-Engil Nigeria, Mr. Kola Karim, met with the Governor at the Kano State Governor's Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, to brief him on the level of preparations for the commencement of the project.

The Kano Light Rail Project, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at a contract sum of ₦1.05 trillion, is expected to transform urban transportation in Kano, improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion and stimulate economic activities across the state.

Governor Yusuf welcomed the delegation and reiterated the commitment of the Kano State Government to working closely with the Federal Government and the project contractors to ensure the successful execution of the landmark infrastructure project.

He described the light rail initiative as a strategic investment that will strengthen Kano's position as the commercial hub of Northern Nigeria while providing residents with a modern, safe and efficient mass transit system.

The Governor further expressed profound appreciation to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tunubu for considering to benefit from the laudable project.

Gov. Yusuf receives BusinessDay Governor of the Year Award..

… As Kano recognizes as Nigeria’s comparative and investment readiness state 

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has been honoured with the BusinessDay Newspaper 2026 Governor of the Year Award in recognition of his administration’s achievements in governance, economic development and investment readiness.

The award was presented on Thursday during the BusinessDay 14th Annual CEO Forum at Lagos Eko Hotel. 

While presenting the award, the Publisher and CEO of the Business Day newspaper Mr. Frank Aigbogun said, Kano Governor is recognized with States Competitiveness and Investment Readiness Awards (SCIRA) as the Governor of the year 2016.

The event held at Eko Hotel, Lagos, with the Deputy Governor of Kano State receiving the honour on behalf of Governor Yusuf, was attended by top government officials, including the minister of finance Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and other distinguished public and private sector leaders.

In his acceptance speech, delivered by the Deputy Governor, Governor Yusuf described the award as a recognition of the collective efforts of the Kano State Government in delivering people-centred governance and implementing reforms that have repositioned the state for sustainable growth.

He noted that the recognition by one of Nigeria’s foremost business and economic newspapers underscores the impact of his administration’s investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, commerce, industrial development and social welfare.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Kano’s position as Northern Nigeria’s commercial hub through policies that promote investment, support small and medium enterprises, modernise markets, enhance agricultural value chains and create employment opportunities for young people.

The Governor dedicated the award to the people of Kano State, members of the State Executive Council, the Legislature, the Judiciary, traditional and religious leaders, civil servants, development partners and the private sector for their support and contributions to the state’s development.

Gov. Yusuf Restates Commitment to Kano Development Blueprint, Charges APC Executives on Grassroots Mobilisation

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing a comprehensive development blueprint aimed at accelerating Kano State’s socio-economic transformation.

The Governor stated this on Wednesday during a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC)Executives of Polling Unit Associations from the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor Yusuf said his administration would remain focused on delivering good governance and improving the lives of the people.

He said the government would not be distracted by political blackmail but would continue to execute projects and programmes that promote economic growth, improve infrastructure and enhance public service delivery.

The Governor expressed confidence that the administration’s performance would continue to earn the trust and support of the people ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He described the newly inaugurated party executives as the engine room of the APC’s grassroots structure.

Gov. Yusuf Rewards APC Polling Unit Supporters with 1,540 Plots, ₦100 Million to Boost 2027 Grassroots Mobilisation

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed 1,540 plots of land and a cash grant of ₦100 million to leaders of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as ’Yan Akwati, as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor announced the support during the official inauguration of the ’Yan Akwati association, describing the polling unit structure as the foundation of the APC’s electoral strength.

Governor Yusuf said empowering grassroots supporters would enhance the party’s mobilisation efforts and guarantee victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid, as well as other APC candidates in future elections.

He noted that the re-election of President Tinubu would ensure the continuity of ongoing economic reforms and development initiatives across the country.

According to the governor, the donation of plots of land and the ₦100 million grant is aimed at motivating members of the association and enabling them to effectively coordinate party activities at the polling unit level.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the intervention as the first phase of a broader strategy to consolidate APC’s grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.

He expressed confidence that the ’Yan Akwati network possesses the capacity to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Kano State.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched a strategic grassroots engagement aimed at consolidating the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party is mobilizing from the polling unit level to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.

The governor made the declaration during an interactive session with the leadership and members of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as ’Yan Akwatina, led by Hon. Najib Abdulkadir Salati.

The association has structures across the 44 local government areas, 484 wards and all polling units in Kano State, making it one of the party’s largest grassroots mobilization platforms.

Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf said the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 remains the best political opportunity for Nigeria to consolidate the gains of the administration’s economic reforms and accelerated infrastructure development.

He stressed that APC’s grassroots engagement would further strengthen the party’s support base and ensure victory across all elective positions in the state and at the national level.

As part of efforts to empower the association, Governor Yusuf donated plots of land and the sum of ₦100 million to support its activities.

Earlier, the Governor’s Political Adviser, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, said the engagement marked the commencement of APC’s grassroots mobilization strategy for the 2027 elections.

According to him, the Polling Unit Supporters Association alone has the capacity to mobilize at least 1,122,200 votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the next presidential election.

In his remarks, the leader of the association, Hon. Najib Abdulkadir Salati, commended Governor Yusuf for carrying members of the group along through appointments into positions at the state and local government levels.

He pledged the association’s total commitment to delivering overwhelming victories for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Kano State, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, declared that the party is firmly on course for a landslide victory, insisting that Governor Yusuf’s achievements have significantly weakened the opposition in Kano.

He expressed confidence that the APC would continue to dominate the state’s political landscape as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commissioned the Comrade Godwin Abumisi Pensioners’ Legacy House, the corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), in Abuja, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting the welfare and dignity of retired public servants.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.

At the event, the President of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Comrade Godwin Abumisi, commended Governor Yusuf’s unwavering commitment to pension reforms, recalling that he was honoured as the Most Pensioners-Friendly Governor of the Year 2024 in recognition of his exceptional support for retirees.

Abumisi particularly praised the Kano State Government for settling ₦32 billion out of the ₦48.6 billion gratuity liabilities inherited by the present administration, describing the achievement as a major relief to thousands of pensioners and their families.

In his address, Governor Yusuf described the commissioning of the Legacy House as more than the unveiling of a building, saying it represents society’s appreciation for the sacrifices and years of dedicated service rendered by retired public servants.

The Governor noted that pension is not a privilege but a legitimate entitlement earned through years of faithful service, stressing that the true measure of any responsible government lies in how it treats those who have devoted their lives to public service.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to clear the remaining pension backlog before the expiration of its tenure, while sustaining the prompt and regular payment of monthly pensions.

Governor Yusuf also recalled his administration’s decision to increase the minimum pension in Kano State from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000 to cushion the effects of the rising cost of living on elderly retirees.

He further highlighted Kano State’s support for the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, including hosting the Union’s National Delegates Conference, describing the recognition accorded to the state by the union as an encouragement to continue implementing people-centred policies.

The Governor congratulated the national leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners on the successful completion of the Legacy House and expressed confidence that the facility would serve as a centre for unity, collaboration and sustainable support for pensioners across Nigeria.

Earlier, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Joe Ajero commended the Governor for tenacity in supporting the Labour unions not only in Kano but across the country.

The leadership of the pensioners had unanimously endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his second term bid in Kano due to his performance across all critical social sectors of the economy.

Gov. Yusuf Felicitates French Government on National Day, Seeks Stronger Kano-France Partnership

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has congratulated the Government and people of France on the occasion of the country’s National Day, reaffirming Kano State’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with France in key development sectors.

Governor Yusuf made the remarks during an interactive session held at the French Embassy in Abuja to commemorate the celebration. The governor led a delegation of senior government officials to the event.

He congratulated the French Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Marc Fonbaustier, on behalf of the Government and people of Kano State, wishing France continued peace, prosperity and progress.

Governor Yusuf commended the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and France, describing it as a partnership that has continued to promote development and mutual understanding.

He called for sustained collaboration between Kano State and the French Government in the areas of agriculture, renewable energy, water resources, environmental protection and education.

According to the governor, Kano remains committed to working with international partners to attract investments, improve public services and enhance the well-being of its citizens.

He expressed confidence that stronger cooperation with France would open new opportunities for innovation, technology transfer and sustainable development in Kano State.


Gov. Yusuf Condoles JIBWIS, Commissioner for Women Affairs Over Passing of Engr. Yusuf Abdullahi

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has received with shock the death of Engr. Yusuf Abdullahi (Baba), a respected engineer, religious leader, and immediate younger brother of the Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and the Disabled, Hon. Amina Abdullahi Sani.

The late Engr. Yusuf was also a close associate of the Kano based Islamic scholar, Professor Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, and a committed member State of Jama'atu Izalatil Bid'ah Wa'iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), where he was widely admired for his dedication to the propagation of Islam and community service.

In a condolence message issued by the governor's Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa in Kano on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf said the deceased was a humble, God-fearing and compassionate individual whose contributions to engineering, religious activities and humanitarian causes earned him the respect of many across Kano State and beyond.

Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf noted that the death of Engr. Yusuf is a great loss not only to his immediate family but also to the entire JIBWIS family, the engineering profession and the people of Kano State.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to Hon. Amina Abdullahi, Professor Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, the leadership and members of JIBWIS, as well as the entire Abdullahi family, praying to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased.

He also prayed fervently for Allah to admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Gov. Yusuf Meets Kano APC Federal Appointees in Abuja, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Sunday hosted federal political appointees from Kano State and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Government House Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

The meeting, held under the Tinubu Renewed Hope Appointees Forum, Kano State Chapter, brought together key APC stakeholders to deliberate on the future of the party in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The forum unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in recognition of what it described as his commitment to the development of Kano State and the nation.

The stakeholders pledged to mobilise support for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to secure a resounding victory in Kano during the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting also congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, on emerging as the APC governorship candidates for Kano State.

Members reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and expressed full support for Governor Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda.

They resolved to work in unity to ensure the APC records victory in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections in Kano State.

The inaugural meeting was attended by former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the State APC Chairman, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, ministers, presidential aides, heads of federal agencies, chairmen of parastatals, board members and other federal political appointees from Kano State.
