Forgery Case: Court Issues Arrest Warrant for NSCDC Official

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has obtained a bench warrant from the Federal Capital Territory High Court Apo, Abuja against Jubrin Buba, a staff of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for refusing to appear for arraignment. The case of Federal Republic of Nigeria vs Jubrin Buba came up on Wednesday for arraignment de novo. However, the defendant was not in court neither his lawyer nor his surety, despite being duly notified. In view of Buba’s absence, counsel to ICPC, Mr. Aniekan Ekong, urged the Court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest and that notice should also be issued to the surety to show cause as to why the bail bond should not be forfeited to the federal government. The presiding judge, Honourable Justice Binta Dogonyaro, granted the application and adjourned the matter to 4th March 2025 for arraignment and hearing. NSCDC rescues 13 victims of human trafficking in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has rescued 13 victims of human trafficking, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports. The State Commandant of the corps, Mohammed Lawal-Falala, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Kano. Lawal-Falala, disclosed that the victims were rescued on May 20, at Dan Tsinke Quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area of the state. According to him, we received an information that a man keeps young female children in his house and traffick them to Cameroon to seek for greener pasture. ”On receiving the information, a special surveillance was coordinated by the corps operatives attached to Tarauni Division and the victims were rescued.” He also disclosed that one suspect was arrested by the operatives of the corps for keeping the victims in his house, while the two prime suspects were still at large.
