Governor Yusuf Approves N13.3bn Rogo-Mahangi Reconstruction to Ease Farm Produce Movement

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the approval of the reconstruction of the Rogo-Bari-Falgore-Mahangi road at a cost of N13,350,209,134.89.
The project aims to facilitate the smooth movement of farm produce and boost economic activities in the region.
The governor made this announcement during the official commissioning of the nine-kilometre Fulatan-Zarewa Danguzuri Road, constructed by the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank and other partners.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf revealed that the construction company has already commenced preliminary work at the site. He emphasized that the project was awarded to a reputable firm to ensure the road’s durability and longevity.
Governor Yusuf also disclosed that the five-kilometre dualised road in Rogo Local Government Area is being reviewed for reassignment to another company to ensure its completion.
He warned the contractor to expedite the work and meet the deadline, or risk having the contract revoked and reassigned to a more competent firm.
The governor reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to monitoring the execution of projects not only in Rogo but across the state to ensure quality delivery.
He further announced the approval of the Rogo Council Chairman’s appeal for the construction of the Sundu-Gwangan road.
"I have directed the Commissioner for Community Development to deploy engineers for a ground study and possible contract awarding," he said.
On education, Governor Yusuf noted the large population of primary and secondary school students who welcomed his entourage.
He pledged to construct additional classrooms and provide learning materials to enhance the conducive learning environment in the area.
Regarding empowerment initiatives, the governor directed the council chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, to ensure prudent selection of 100 women for a monthly stipend of N5,000 and to enroll youths in the 26 reopened Entrepreneurial Institutions.
He expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to him and reassured the community of his administration’s commitment to prioritizing their needs for rapid development.
Earlier, Chairman Mustapha commended Governor Yusuf for his efforts in delivering developmental projects to the area and appealed for the construction of the Sundu-Gwangan road in Rogo Local Government Area.
Similarly, the District Head of Rogo, Dan Isan Karaye, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, who represented the Emir, praised the governor for his laudable projects in the emirate and called for more developmental initiatives.
