Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed satisfaction with the resolution of the Muslim Intellectual Forum to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.
The Governor described the endorsement as a significant development, noting that the decision by Islamic scholars, imams and religious leaders reflects their assessment of the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.
The Muslim Intellectual Forum, comprising Islamic scholars, imams and religious leaders from the northern states, announced its position after a meeting with the governors of Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Kaduna and Sokoto states at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, Dutse, Jigawa State, on Saturday.
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Muttaqha Rabe Darma, who spoke on behalf of the group, said the scholars reviewed the situation in Northern Nigeria and expressed satisfaction with what they described as progress recorded under the Tinubu administration.
According to him, the group passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and resolved to encourage Nigerians, particularly those in the North, to continue supporting his administration and vote for him in the 2027 presidential election.
The scholars also commended the Federal Government’s infrastructure projects, particularly the construction and rehabilitation of roads, as well as efforts in security, education, healthcare, water supply and other areas of public welfare.
Darma specifically cited the rehabilitation of the Kano-Kaduna road and improved security in some parts of Kaduna, Katsina and Sokoto states as examples of progress recorded by the administration.
He, however, acknowledged that security challenges persist in parts of Northern Nigeria, particularly Niger and Zamfara states, and called for greater efforts by the government to address the situation and ensure lasting peace.
Governor Yusuf commended the Muslim Intellectual Forum for its commitment to peace, development and the wellbeing of the people, while appreciating the scholars and political leaders who attended the meeting.
The Governor also expressed appreciation to the forum for recognising ongoing efforts towards improving infrastructure, security and social services across the country.
The Muslim Intellectual Forum further commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his presence and support for the meeting.
