Issues 48 hours for former emirs to vacate palaces.  Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as 16th Emir of Kano state.  Governor Yusuf also issued 48 hours to Aminu Ado Bayero and four other former first class chiefs to vacate the palace and hand over all emirates property to the office of the deputy Governor. The Kano State House of Assembly has repealed the Kano Emirates Council Law 2019, thereby dissolving the Emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye and Rano. Daily News reports that the Assembly repealed the Emirates Law on Thursday during its plenary session amidst tight security. It is understood that the assembly is expected to submit the decision to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for assent. There are speculations that the dissolution of the four Emirates was done to pave way for the return of deposed 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi. Already, the current Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayeo and his Bichi counterpart Nasiru Ado Bayero have travelled out of the state. Recall that Mr Sanusi was dethroned in March 2020 by former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, following a protracted political dispute. Mr Ganduje had then created the four new Emirates to reduce the influence of the Once powerful Kano Emirate.

Kano State Government has established a committee to investigate the mass failure in the recently concluded qualifying examinations for Senior Secondary Schools. A statement signed by the Director Public Enlightenment Ministry of Education Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru explained that the committee's terms of reference include determining the extent of the examination failures, examining the causes of the mass failure, and assessing whether there was compliance with the established procedures for releasing the results.  The statement added that the Committee will look into how the private students participate in the examination. " It is also part of the Committee's responsibility to advise the government on whether to continue with the examination process or otherwise " said the statement. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has confirmed that as at Tuesday this week, about five thousand Nigerian pilgrims have arrived the holy City of Makkah, after their four day stay in the holy Prophet City of Madinah.  The pilgrims were made up of those from Kebbi, Nasarawa States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja who were the first to arrive in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this year's Hajj operation that started last week. The Kano State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has rescued 13 victims of human trafficking, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports. The State Commandant of the corps, Mohammed Lawal-Falala, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Kano. Lawal-Falala, disclosed that the victims were rescued on May 20, at Dan Tsinke Quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area of the state.
